An Early Valentine's Day Present

Last night we sat on a couch and watched a very tense episode of Grey's Anatomy on a television, and I drank out of an actual glass. Ah, civilization. We still ate dinner off of plastic plates, but it was only because our real plates were in the dishwasher getting clean after their long haul. We hit a point yesterday morning where we looked around and realized that all of our stuff just wasn't going to fit into our 500 sq ft apartment. Luckily that point came before it was all unpacked. We were renting a U-haul van anyway to pick up our new couch and a new dresser, so it made sense to take care of hauling all our extra stuff to a storage unit. We found one for $40 a month close by, and when we arrived, we were told that if we paid for 5 months, we would get the sixth for free. Sweet! For $200, our stuff is safe and out of sight until we find a house.

As I watched Dan work his tetras magic on the storage unit, I announced, "Let's call this our Valentine's present to each other." He looked at me like I was starting to lose my mind a bit. "I know it's not very romantic in the traditional sense," I said,"but this is peace of mind, and that is rather romantic." He still looked at me like I was nutty. Eventually I got him to admit that he didn't have any other ideas yet for V-day simply because we've been so busy moving. "Well then, this is me letting you off the hook. Please, take it," I said with a smile. And so he did, and called me awesome.

The thing is, when you have a guy as wonderful and dreamy as Dan is, every day is Valentine's Day. When we first started dating I used to call him "Prince Charming" because he just seemed too good to be true. The first time we spent a week together in Massachusetts, I left a pin of a frog wearing a crown pinned to a card that I attached to his fridge with a magnet. I didn't tell him it was there, and he found it a couple of days later. He still has that pin. Almost 5 years later, I've moved onto other nicknames, but he's still my Prince Charming in every way. Just recently I saw these cuff links in a catalog from Red Envelope. I gave him cuff links as part of his wedding present two years ago, and don't you know I would have totally given him those if they had been available then!

You two are so cute that I actually just vomited a little bit in my mouth! Just kidding, I'm really happy for you :) Jake & I are going indoor skydiving for Valentine's Day...not a traditional gift but hopefully lots of fun. Any chance you're going to be in GA the last week of March? If so, I'd love to see you.
How's the job search going?
P.S. - I love reading your blog, so glad you started one.

Little grasshopper, there is feeling and there is knowing. I know.

Cassie, indoor skydiving should be so cool! Coming down to GA in March could happen! It will depend on a work schedule I will hopefully have by then. I really want to see you too!
